(HOWE) – A Sturgis man was killed in a crash on the Indiana Toll Road.

Indiana State Police say they were called to investigate a single vehicle crash o the Indiana Toll Road at approximately 8:30 PM Saturday near the 128 Mile Marker in LaGrange County.

Troopers arrived and found an SUV with heavy damage on the shoulder of the westbound lanes. They then found the body of the registered owner, 67 year old Daniel T. Olson of Sturgis, laying unresponsive down in the side ditch. LaGrange County EMS arrived, but life saving measures were unsuccessful, and Olson was pronounced dead at the scene by the LaGrange County Coroner.

Investigators determined that Olson had initially been traveling east on the Indiana Toll Road when his vehicle struck the outside guardrail, then crossed through the median median and stuck the inside guardrail of the west bound lanes. Olson's vehicle crossed the west bound lanes, crashed into the outside westbound guardrail, rolled over and came to rest on the westbound shoulder.

Troopers determined Olson was the driver and sole occupant of his vehicle at the time of the crash. He was not wearing a seat belt and was ejected from the vehicle.

The LaGrange County Coroner's office has scheduled an autopsy.
