(LANSING) – Unemployment rates dropped from October to November in across Southern Michigan.

Information released by the Michigan Department of Technology, Management and Budget shows St. Joseph County's unemployment rate dropped from 4.2 percent to an even 4 percent from October to November.

The largest drop was in Hillsdale County, which went from an October figure of 4.9 percent to 4.3 percent in November. Branch County saw their unemployment rate shrink from 4.3 to an even 4 percent. Cass County dropped from 4.1 to 3.8 percent.

Statewide, the jobless rate went from 4.7 percent in October to 4.2 percent in November. That's better than November 2020 when it was at 7.4 percent.

Wayne Rourke, Associate Director of the Bureau of Labor Market Information and Strategic Initiatives, says employment rose in most regional labor markets in November. That means regional unemployment rates dropped anywhere from three-tenths to seven-tenths of a percent for the month.
