Ejections End Sturgis v Kalamazoo Phoenix Game Early

(STURGIS) – The Sturgis varsity boys basketball team picked up their fourth straight win Tuesday night, but it didn't come in the traditional way.

The Trojans played host to the Kalamazoo Phoenix in a non conference game, and got a 40-17 win. But the game was called with 2:32 left in the third quarter after a pair of incidents involving Phoenix players.

The first was just after the halfway point of the third quarter, as heard on Fox Sports Radio 99.7 FM and 1230 AM. ...... {LISTEN}.

Then with 2:32 left in the third quarter, another situation happened. ...... {LISTEN}.

Trojans head coach Keith Kurowski came up for the post game show, and said it was a strange night. He said he was proud of the way his team acted and the Kalamazoo Phoenix coach was concerned about what happened and how the official who was struck was doing.

The matter will be reviewed by the Michigan High School Athletic Association. In addition, Sturgis school officials said the official who was struck could file charges of assault against the player.
