(ELKHART) – A crash between two semis claimed the lives of both drivers.

Indiana State Police say they were called out just after 1 AM Saturday to investigate a crash between two semis on the Indiana Toll Road near mile marker 90.5, which is just west of Exit 92 for the City of Elkhart.

Troopers says an International semi was driving west, when for an unknown reason it crossed the center median and entered the eastbound lanes. While moving into the eastbound lanes, another semi struck the trailer of the International.

The second semi caught on fire and became fully engulfed. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the International was taken to Elkhart General Hospital where he later died. The names of the drivers have not been released pending positive identification and notification of their family.

The crash is still being investigated.
