Centreville Man And Son Killed In Crash

(HOWARD TOWNSHIP) – A two vehicle crash took the life of a Centreville man and his son.

Michigan State Police say at 8:15 PM Friday, a passenger car was driving west on M-60 in Cass County's Howard Township at a high rate of speed. The car crossed the center line and crashed head on into an eastbound SUV.

The driver of the car, 30 year old Phillip Parker of Centreville, and his 5 year old son, were both pronounced dead at the scene. It's not known if Parker was wearing his seat belt, but his son was properly restrained.

The driver of the SUV, a 39 year old South Bend man, and his passenger, a 39 year old Niles man, both suffered non life threatening injuries. They were taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital to be treated. They were both wearing their safety belts.

The crash remains under investigation.
