(UNDATED) – Another step has been taken to bring Arby's back to Sturgis.

Sturgis Township officials spoke with Swick Broadcasting and said during Monday's meeting, the Sturgis Township Planning Commission approved a site plan review to have an Arby's Restaurant put into the former Burger King Building on South Centreville Road, which is in Sturgis Township.

Township officials say Tria Restaurant Company in Battle Creek will be the owner of the restaurant and oversee the renovations. Tria representatives shared with the Township Planning Commission that the building will be stripped down and then remodeled to look like the newer Arby's buildings. New kitchen equipment along with booths and tables will be installed.

In addition to the interior work, Township officials say the building will also have a double drive through and a bypass lane. The cost of the project is approximately $500,000.

Work is scheduled to start in February and be finished in May. However, that may be pushed out depending on the availability of the equipment and materials needed to do the project.
