(BRISTOL) – Five rookies out of the 81st Indiana State Police Recruit Academy have been assigned to the Indiana Toll Road Post in Bristol.

Three of the five new troopers are from the Michiana area.

28 year old Morgan Gremore is a 2011 graduate of White Pigeon High School. Prior to attending the recruit academy, Gremore was a dispatcher with the Indiana State Police a year and a half. Gremore will patrol the Toll Road in LaGrange, Elkhart and St. Joseph Counties.

22 year old Samuel Sharp is a 2018 Westview High School graduate. Sharp was a corrections officer for the LaGrange County Jail for a year before joining the Indiana State Police. Sharp will patrol the Toll Road in LaGrange and Steuben Counties.

22 year old Joshua Brown is a graduate of Bellmont High School in Decatur, Indiana with the Class of 2017. He attended Indiana Tech and earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice with a minor in accounting. Brown will also be patrolling the Indiana Toll Road in LaGrange and Steuben Counties.

The other two new troopers are 25 year old Richard Harris, a 2015 graduate of Lakeshore High School in Stevensville, Michigan along with 27 year old Lecil Martin, a 2021 Hammond Bishop Noll graduate.

The new troopers completed over 1,100 hours of academic and hands-on training in criminal and traffic law, crash investigation, emergency vehicle operations, defensive tactics, firearms, de-escalation, impaired driving detection, scenario-based training, and other classes necessary for modern policing during the 25 weeks of the recruit academy.

They will now begin three months of field training working next to several different experienced field training officers. After successfully completing this phase, the troopers will be issued their own police cars and begin solo patrol on the Indiana Toll Road.
