(CENTREVILLE) – Glen Oaks Community College wants to use results of a survey to make the college experience better for their students.

During Thursday’s Board of Trustees meeting, Tammy Russell, Director of Institutional Planning, Assessment & Research, presented the results of the Student Satisfaction Survey. This is a standardized survey administered by thousands of universities nationwide that measures how well universities are meeting their students’ expectations. The results are helpful in improving student retention.

Russell says in the Glen Oaks survey, over 91 percent of the students reported their college experience met or exceeded their expectations; and 91 percent would enroll again if they had to do it over. Campus safety and campus services were rated high.

The challenges posed are in the areas of effectiveness of instruction and in the registration process.

Russell says the High Quality Teaching and Learning Committee will be reviewing the data from the survey.
