(LANSING) – Contact winter sports will be allowed to resume in Michigan.

During a Thursday afternoon media update, Governor Gretchen Whitmer announced that due to the reduced cases of COVID-19 in Michigan, contact winter sports and practices will be able to resume beginning next week.

Dr. Elizabeth Hertel, Executive Director of the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services spoke and shared when this change goes into effect. ...... {LISTEN}.

Hertel says part of this order means masks must be worn at all times by athletes. ...... {LISTEN}.

Hertel says spectators are allowed with up to 250 people in stadiums that seat less than 10,000, and up to 500 people at venues that seat over 10,000 people.
