(COLDWATER) – A Coldwater man who allegedly download child pornography had his case bound over to Branch County Circuit Court.

District Court officials say 44 year old Christopher Fowler waived his Tuesday preliminary hearing. He is charged with aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and using a computer to commit a crime.

Michigan State Police say their Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force arrested Fowler. The investigation was started by the Fifth District Computer Crimes Unit, when it came to their attention that a suspect was downloading a large amount of child sexually abusive material. A search was done at Fowler's home where officers collected digital evidence.

An arrest warrant was then issued for Fowler, who was taken into custody on January 14. In addition, the Branch County Prosecutor's Office filed a fourth time habitual offender sentencing enhancer against Fowler if he is convicted.

Fowler was able to post a $50,000 bond. He is ordered to not have any unsupervised contact with children. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Circuit Court on March 1.
