NE Indiana Unemployment Rates Drop In December

(INDIANAPOLIS) – NE Indiana counties saw a drop in their unemployment rates from November to December.

Information released by the Indiana Department of Workforce Development shows LaGrange County's jobless rate went from 3.6 percent in November to 2.8 percent in December. That's a drop of eight-tenths of a percent.

The largest drop was in Elkhart County, who saw their jobless rate go down 1.1 percent, dropping from 4.5 to 3.4 percent.

Noble County saw their jobless rate go down from 4.8 percent in November to 3.9 percent in December, which is a decrease of nine-tenths of a percent. DeKalb County went from an even 4 percent to 3.3, which is a drop of seven-tenths of a percent. Steuben County saw their jobless rate go from 3.8 to 3.2 percent, which is a decrease of six-tenths of a percent.

Statewide, the jobless rate in Indiana was 4.3 percent for December, down from 5.1 percent in November.
