(COLDWATER) – A man who was convicted for assaulting a woman he knows is now charged with a sex crime.

Branch County District Court officials say 21 year old Tyler Chehowski of Coldwater was arraigned on a charge of first degree criminal sexual conduct. He is also accused of being a third habitual offender.

Court personnel say the incident allegedly happened in May 2019 and involved a 12 year old girl. The Branch County Prosecutors Office issued an arrest warrant last week after the Coldwater Police Department conducted an investigation.

Chehowski is being held in the Branch County Jail on $100,000 bond. The Court also issued a No Contact Order for the alleged victim.

Chehowski is scheduled to have a probable cause hearing on February 4 and a preliminary examination on February 9.
