(MOTTVILLE TOWNSHIP) – A Constantine man is facing several charges after leading authorities on a chase.

St. Joseph County Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says just before 1 AM Sunday, his deputies attempted to stop a motor vehicle for a traffic violation on Burke Road near U.S. 12 in Mottville Township. The vehicle was speeding and disobeying stops signs in the area.

The vehicle drove off and deputies pursued it down to State Line Road where the vehicle entered a farm field. The driver got out and ran away. Deputies pursued the suspect again until he stopped and surrendered himself.

The 34 year old man is being held in the St. Joseph County Jail on multiple criminal offenses including traffic violations, narcotics violations and weapons violations.
