(COLON TOWNSHIP) – The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department is investigating an armed robbery.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says his deputies were called to the area of M-86 near Fairfax Road in Colon Township at 12:27 PM Friday. A 45 year old Sturgis man told deputies he was flagged down by a subject in a white Ford F-150 pick up with an Illinois license plate, which was stopped along the road.

The victim says the man requested assistance with gas, so the Sturgis man agreed to take him to a gas station. The suspect, along with two other men, approached the victim, pulled him from his vehicle at gun point and held him down in the back seat while the suspects searched for money. When they didn't find any money, the suspects got into their vehicle and drove off westbound on M-86.

All three suspects are white males in their 30's.

The victim was not injured during the assault.

The case is still being investigated and if anyone has information, they are asked to call the St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department at 269-467-9045 or St. Joseph County Central Dispatch at 269-467-4195.
