(FREMONT TOWNSHIP) – A pick up crash Monday night claimed the life of an Angola man.

The Steuben County Sheriff's Department says while on patrol, a deputy noticed a silver Ford F-150 pick up in a field on the west side of State Road 827 north of County Road 300 East in Fremont Township. The deputy checked the vehicle and found it had been involved in a crash. He also found the body of a man in the field.

The preliminary investigation indicated the driver, 42 year old Antonio Wright of Angola, was driving north on State Road 827 when for an unknown reason, the vehicle went off the east side of the roadway. It appears Wright over corrected, and the pick up went off the west side of the road, and rolled over several times before coming to rest in the field.

Wright was ejected from the truck. He was found in the field and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators say it didn't appear that Wright was wearing at seat belt at the time of the crash, which remains under investigation.

Assisting deputies were the Indiana State Police, the Fremont Fire Department, the Steuben County EMS and the Steuben County Coroner's Office.
