By: Mike Stiles - Monday, November 16, 2020

(EAST LANSING) – The Michigan High School Athletic Association has also reacted to the announcement of the epidemic order issued Sunday.

The MHSAA has suspended its Fall tournaments and all winter practices and competitions scheduled to start over the next three weeks. The Fall tournaments were in girls volleyball, girls swimming and diving and football. The volleyball and swimming & diving tournaments have one week remaining, with MHSAA Finals for both previously scheduled for November 21. The 11 and 8 Player Football Playoffs also are nearing their conclusions, with the 8 player postseason two games from completion and 11 player down to its final three rounds.

MHSAA Executive Director Mark Uyl says they understand the need for action and the MHSAA will explore all options to complete their Fall tournaments when restrictions are lifted. Uyl says they will assess everything over the next three weeks relative to Fall and Winter sports and come up with a plan that keeps the MHSAA connected to their goal of having three seasons that are played to their conclusions.
