(INDIANAPOLIS) – Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb has signed an Executive Order to implement pandemic requirements for all Hoosiers.

Holcomb signed Executive Order 20-48 on Friday. It also targets restrictions for counties that have high levels of COVID-19. Under the Executive Order, local governments may impose more restrictive guidelines.

The Indiana Department of Health has established a color-coded county map that measures weekly cases per 100,000 residents and the seven day positivity rate for all tests completed. Restrictions are assigned based on the map.

The majority of the state is either orange or red. In Northeast Indiana, LaGrange County is the only one designated as red, which means they have very high positivity and community spread. Red counties must limit social gatherings of any kind to 25 people; only players and parents can attend indoor sporting events and local health officials can limit business hours.

In orange counties, businesses can stay open, but all social gatherings are limited to 50 people. Indoor sporting events will be limited to 25 percent capacity.

Regardless of a county's color code, face coverings are required for all Hoosiers. Businesses of all types are required to place clearly visible signs at their public and employee entrances notifying everyone that face coverings are required.

Holcomb says we must do all we can to protect hospital capacities, so that health care professionals can protect and care for patients. This is not only for those who have COVID but for those with other health issues.

The Executive Order runs from November 15 until at least December 12.
