(COLDWATER) – ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital announced on Thursday that they are temporarily tightening their visitor restrictions.

Hospital officials say this move is being done to help protect patients, employees and members of the community. The change is in accordance with guidance from the Governor's office and the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.

ProMedica has a three tiered hospital visitor restriction policy in the event of a pandemic. Since June, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital has been operating under their Level 2 visitor restriction. Recently Branch County and Regional 5 were designated a Michigan risk level 8 which is the highest level. This level indicates significant community spread as well as increased admissions and emergency department visits that are creating capacity issues.

Effective immediately, ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital will shift to its Level 3 visitor restriction. This means no inpatient visitors are permitted; no emergency department guests are permitted and no guests are permitted for ambulatory testing and procedures.

As an exception, labor and delivery patients will be permitted to have one in person visitor for the duration of the their stay. Those visitors must pass daily screenings and adhere to all COVID-19 preventive measures at all times.

ProMedica will continue to closely monitor the evolving COVID-19 pandemic and make appropriate adjustments to visitor restrictions to help ensure the safety of everyone in its facilities.
