Hile Re-Elected Sturgis Mayor, Mullins To Serve As Vice Mayor

(STURGIS) – Robert Hile will serve another term as the Mayor Sturgis.

During Monday's organizational meeting of the Sturgis City Commission, the first item of business was to elect a Mayor. Hile and Commissioner Jeff Mullins were nominated, but the voted ended in a 4-4 tie. Another vote was taken a short time later and again the vote was 4-4.

Commissioner Skip Littman arrived at the meeting and a third vote was taken, which Hile won 5-4.

Mullins was then nominated and a unanimous ballot was cast to have him serve as Vice Mayor.

This is Hile's 5th term as Sturgis Mayor. Following the meeting, he spoke with Swick Broadcasting and shared that he is going to be interested to see how the City moves forward with the recreational marijuana businesses that want to open their doors. ...... {LISTEN}.

Hile says he is also interested to see what the next road project or projects will be for Sturgis in 2021.

Monday was also the first meeting for newly elected Commissioner Marvin Smith who will represent the Third Precinct. He was a write in candidate in last week's election, and defeated Linda Harrington, who was also a write in candidate.
