(THREE RIVERS) – A suspect is in custody for allegedly setting an RV on fire.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department and the Three Rivers Fire Department were both called to a residence in the 16,000 block of Lovers Lane just after 10:30 Friday morning.

Witnesses told deputies that a 40 year old man was seen going into the residence, after he poured gasoline in the driveway and garage, leading to an RV, which was in the back yard and on fire.

Deputies heard a single gunshot and forced their way into the house. The man was located and brought outside. The Three Rivers Fire Department was then deployed and were able to extinguish the fire in ten minutes. The RV is considered a total loss and no one was injured.

Following an investigation, the man was arrested for arson of real property and taken to the St. Joseph County Jail. The matter is still being investigated.

The Three Rivers Police Department assisted at the scene.
