Steuben County REMC Buys iMAN
By: Sheila McCrea/Mike Stiles - Saturday, October 24, 2020

(ANGOLA) – Steuben County REMC has taken a stop forward in bringing broadband to rural portions of the county.

In a news release, REMC says they have purchased Steuben County Fiber Network, better known as iMAN. The REMC's Board of Directors authorized the acquisition of iMAN for $2.8 million, effective January 2021. The move is an effort to provide fiber optic services to its members.

The fiber network was the creation of the Steuben County Community Foundation two decades ago.

Over the next four to five years, REMC plans to deploy fiber to its home network of customers, which represents a $25 million investment in infrastructure.
