(UNDATED) – Two people were injured in a four vehicle accident that happened Wednesday afternoon.

The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office says 59 year old Colleen Prough of Goshen was stopped in the westbound lane of U.S. 20 at the intersection of County Road 27 at 2 PM Wednesday. Her vehicle was rear ended by a pick up driven by 70 year old Gale Laudeman of Bremen. Laudeman then went off the side of the road and struck a utility pole.

A semi driven by 62 year old David Mishler of Wakarusa was heading east and struck the front of Prough's automobile. Mishler continued through the intersection and collided with a westbound semi that was driven by 45 year old Lavon Yoder of Goshen.

Yoder was flown from the scene to South Bend Memorial Hospital by Med Flight with a head injury. Prough was transported to Elkhart General Hospital complaining of right arm and right leg pain. Laudeman had no visible injuries but was also taken to Elkhart General Hospital to be examined.

Laudeman was given a citation for driving at an unsafe speed and for not wearing his safety belt. Yoder was also given a citation for not wearing a safety belt.
