Free Drive Through COVID-19 Testing Happening In Coldwater
By: Mike Stiles - Saturday, September 12, 2020

(COLDWATER) – Residents of St. Joseph, Branch and Hillsdale Counties have a special opportunity to be tested for COVID-19.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency and the Michigan National Guard will be doing testing at the Branch County 4-H Fairgrounds, 262 Sprague Street in Coldwater on Tuesday, September 15. The testing is for Michigan residents, whether you have symptoms or not, on a first come, first served basis, from 2 PM until 6 PM.

Individuals who wish to be tested should bring an ID. Minors can be tested if they are calm and with a parent. The State of Michigan is covering the cost of testing at this event, so insurance is not required and no insurance cards will be requested.

CHA Health Officer Rebecca Burns says it's important that we identify positive cases, move them into isolation and quarantine their close contacts to stop the spread of this disease. The CHA encourages anyone with symptoms or anyone concerned they may have been exposed to be tested. Anyone who has left their home for work or travel can also be tested.

Nasopharyngeal tests will be administered to determine whether persons currently have COVID-19. Antibody testing will not be done at this event.

Burns reminds everyone to continue exercising caution by washing their hands regularly, wearing masks in public places and maintaining social distance.
