(ANGOLA) – Angola Mayor Richard Hickman presented the 2020 budget to the Common Council Tuesday evening.

A quote was opened for the Hires Lift Station Discharge Manhole Improvement Project. The manhole is 30 to 35 years old and has significant deterioration. The quote from Perish Excavating was for $229,605.

Wastewater Superintendent Craig Williams say the wall of this structure as installed was 6 to 8 inches thick. They are seeing beyond the steel reinforcement of that structure. They estimate they are half way through the wall of the structure in some places.

The estimate for the project was $150,000 and the Council moved to award the project if the bidder met specifications for the project due to the time sensitivity of the project and need.

The Council also approved an addendum agreement with Pleasant Township compensating the City $300,000 for a fire truck.

Mayor Hickman gave a brief review of the 2020 budget and the Council will meet on September 16 at 5 PM for a work session on the 2021 budget.
