Unemployment Rates Drop In NE Indiana During July

(INDIANAPOLIS) – Unemployment rates dropped from June to July around Northeast Indiana.

The Indiana Department of Workforce Development says the largest drop in the area was in Noble County, which went from a June unemployment rate of 11.8 percent to 7.7 percent.

LaGrange County saw a decrease in their unemployment rate from 7.9 to an even 5 percent. DeKalb County went from 9.9 percent to 6.8 percent, Steuben County from 8.9 to 6.1 percent and Elkhart County from 10.7 to 8.1 percent.

Statewide, the July unemployment rate for Indiana was 7.8 percent, down from 11.1 percent in June. Indiana's statewide unemployment rate was below the national rate of 10.2 percent.
