Sturgis Accepting Adult Use Marijuana Retailer Applications
By: Mike Stiles - Tuesday, August 18, 2020

(STURGIS) – The City of Sturgis will begin accepting applications for Adult Use Marijuana Retailers in the Business Highway or B-H1 zoning district on September 1.

Assistant City Manager Andrew Kuk says the window accepting applications will close at 4 PM on November 23. All application documents and the application review fee must be received by the Community Development Department by that day and time. No applications will be accepted after the close of the window period.

As per City Ordinance section 38.93, when a limited number of licenses are available, a window for accepting applications must be provided. Once the window has closed, the applications will be ranked and the top ranking applications will begin the application process for the available licenses.

Kuk says City Ordinance section 38.93 also outlines the rules and regulations for adult use marijuana facilities in Sturgis, including the application and review process. If you have any questions pertaining to the ordinance, you can visit the City of Sturgis' website. Click Here. Or you can call the Community Development Department at 269-659-7230.
