One Person Dead In Union City House Fire

(UNION CITY) – One person was found dead in a house that was on fire.

Michigan State Police say just after 4 PM Sunday, a passerby saw smoke coming from a residence at 445 Creamery Road in Union City. The person flagged down a nearby Union City Police Officer, who went to the house and confirmed there was a fire.

The Union City Fire Department arrived and were eventually able to put out the blaze. When they entered the residence, officials found an adult man who was dead. Michigan State Police, the State Police Fire Marshall and K-9 Officers were contacted and responded to the scene.

Troopers say the identity of the deceased individual has not been confirmed. An autopsy is being conducted to determine a cause of death and the man's identity.

Authorities are still trying to determine how the fire started. No damage estimates have been given.
