(WOLCOTTVILLE) – Authorities have identified a body that was found in Wolcottville.

LaGrange County Sheriff Jeff Campos says the individual has been identified as 22 year old Austin Padgett, who has family in the Wolcottville area.

On August 13, a man's body was reported floating in the Little Elkhart Creek just east of Main Street. Sheriff's Deputies assisted the Wolcottville Police and the Indiana Department of Natural Resources in the investigation.

DNR officers removed Padgett from the water, and examined him at the scene along with the LaGrange County Coroner's Office. Campos says there were no outward signs of trauma observed on the body. During this initial part of the investigation, no foul play is suspected.

An autopsy is pending and the investigation is continuing.
