(FLORENCE TOWNSHIP) – A White Pigeon man was injured in an early morning motorcycle accident.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department was called to the area of Lutz and Mintdale Roads in Florence Township just after 12 AM Wednesday. Deputies arrived along with the White Pigeon Police Department and found a 28 year old man in the roadway, breathing but not conscious. The man was later identified as Floyd Parker of White Pigeon.

He was initially treated at the scene by Lifecare Ambulance, and then flown by West Michigan Air Care to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo.

Investigators determined Parker was driving his motorcycle south on Lutz Road when he lost control. It's believed speed and alcohol were factors in the accident.

Also assisting at the scene were the Constantine Fire Department and Michigan State Police.
