Traffic Stop Leads To Police Chase

(ANGOLA) – A Stroh man was arrested after leading police on a chase.
Around 1:30 Thursday afternoon, the Angola Police attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation. The driver sped away, leading officers on a chase. The suspect drove through several yards before exiting the vehicle while it was still moving.
Angola K-9 Officer Zara was brought to the area and was able to apprehend the suspect, 32 year old Estill Adam Perkins, in the backyard of a residence in the 200 block of North Superior Street. It was learned that Perkins was wanted for a parole violation out of Michigan. Police also found Perkins to be in possession of two loaded handguns.
Perkins is charged with felony counts of possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, neglect of a dependent and resisting law enforcement with a vehicle. In addition, he is facing misdemeanor charges of resisting law enforcement and leaving the scene of a property damage crash.
The case has been turned over to the Steuben County Prosecutor's Office. Additional charges could be made.
