Jimmy Lamb Resigns As Sturgis Football Coach

(STURGIS) – Sturgis High School will have a new head football coach for the 2020 season.

Wednesday afternoon, Sturgis Athletic Director Mark Adams announced that Jimmy Lamb resigned as the Trojans' head coach, due to his hiring as the new Principal at Sturgis Middle School. Lamb was hired Monday by the Board of Education to be the new SMS Principal.

Lamb spoke to Swick Broadcasting and said he informed his players via a Zoom meeting of his resignation. ...... {LISTEN}.

Lamb is a 1997 graduate of Mattawan High School, where he was an All Conference football player. He also attended Hope College were he played football while earning a Bachelor's Degree.

Lamb was an assistant football coach for 10 years for Sturgis before being hired as the head coach in 2012. As head coach, Lamb's teams went 25-48, and made the MHSAA Playoffs in 2013 and again in 2015.

Adams says the search for a new head football coach will begin immediately.
