Two More Deaths From COVID-19 In Southern Michigan

(COLDWATER) – Officials say two more deaths in Southern Michigan are due to COVID-19.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency reported Tuesday afternoon that two more residents of Hillsdale County have died from the coronavirus. That brings the number of deaths from COVID-19 in Hillsdale County to four. CHA Health Officer Rebecca Burns says their hearts and prayers go out to the families who have lost their loved ones.

In addition to the two deaths, Hillsdale County also has 56 cases of COVID-19. St. Joseph County now has 15 cases of coronavirus, while Branch County has 16 cases and one death. The Michigan Department of Corrections says there are 32 cases at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater.

Cass County has 9 cases of COVID-19 and one fatality. Calhoun County has 43 cases with a fatality and Kalamazoo County has 64 cases with 4 deaths.

Statewide, there are 18,970 cases of coronavirus, according to information released by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services. That's an increase of 1,749 since Monday. There were also 118 more deaths in Michigan bringing the total in the State to 845 from COVID-19.

If you have symptoms of COVID-19, Burns says you should self isolate for 14 days to avoid potentially exposing others. If you have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, Burns says you should self quarantine for 14 days and monitor yourself for fever, cough and shortness of breath.
