Coronavirus Cases Increasing In Michigan

(LANSING) – More new cases of coronavirus have been announced around Michigan.

The Branch-Hillsdale-St. Joseph Community Health Agency says as of 3 PM Tuesday a new case of coronavirus was detected in St. Joseph County, bring the total to four cases.

In addition, Branch County has two more cases, bringing the total number in the county to 10. Eight of the previous cases were at the Lakeland Correctional Facility in Coldwater.

Cass County is reporting four cases of coronavirus along with their first fatality. No information has been released on the individual.

Also, Hillsdale County now has 15 cases of coronavirus with 1 death. Calhoun County has 17 cases while Kalamazoo County has 24 cases with 1 death.

Statewide as of Tuesday afternoon, there were 7,615 cases of coronavirus in Michigan, which is an increase of 1,117 from Monday. There are also now 259 deaths in the State, up from 75 on Monday.

The CHA is asking anyone with symptoms of COVID-19 to self isolate for 14 days to avoid potentially exposing others. If you have been in contact with someone who has COVID-19, you are asked to self quarantine for 14 days and monitor yourself for fever, cough and shortness of breath.

COVID-19 symptoms may appear in as few as two days or as long as 14 days after exposure to the virus.
