Welding gases stolen from Tractor Supply

STURGIS – The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department is investigating the theft of welding gases from a Sturgis business.

Sheriff Mark Lillywhite says Saturday at 12:19 AM subjects broke into the cage at Tractor Supply Company on South Centreville Road where welding gases were stored. Surveillance video shows a tan Chevrolet extended cab truck between model years 2002 and 2010, park near the cage.

The subjects then cut the lock on the cage and took four various sized cylinders of Acetylene; and one cylinder each of Argon and Shielding gas. The combined value of the gases is over $1,855.
