INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana’s list of essential businesses exempt from the Stay at Home order includes food distribution and organizations that provide charitable and social services including those providing food, shelter and social services. Also educational institutions for purposes of providing distance learning.

Schools and other entities that typically provide food services to students or members of the public may continue to do so under the Executive Order on the condition that the food is provided to students or members of the public on a pick-up and takeaway basis only.

Schools and other entities that provide food services under this exemption shall not permit the food to be eaten at the site where it is provided, or at any other gathering site due to the virus’s propensity to physically impact surfaces and personal property.

Also exempt are stores that sell medicine and pharmacies, food and beverage manufacturing, farming and baking, banks and credit unions, financial products, hardware stores, electrical, plumbing and heating materials.

Businesses that sell and make supplies for people to work at home, transportation, restaurants for off-premises consumption, home-based care and services, hotels and funeral services.
