17 new COVID-19 cases in Indiana, 2 more in St. Joe County

INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana health officials report 17 new confirmed cases of COVID-19.

Three of them were in Northern Indiana, including two in St. Joseph County and one in Lake County.

They bring the total number of confirmed cases to 56. There was a jump in the number of tests reported, but still it only takes in 380 Hoosiers.

No new deaths were reported, keeping that count at two.

An 81-year-old patient at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit is Michigan’s third known fatality. Two of those deaths were in Wayne County and one in Oakland County.

With three confirmed cases in St. Joseph County, county leaders and South Bend officials declared a local disaster emergency beginning at 2 p-m Thursday.

Only essential travel is allowed. Examples of essential travel include to and from work, picking up medicines or going to the doctor, picking up food or groceries, and taking kids to daycare.
