St. Joseph County United Way launches food drive
By: Mike Stiles - Thursday, March 19, 2020

CENTREVILLE – A St. Joseph County agency is putting together a food drive to help out during the coronavirus situation.

St. Joseph County United Way Executive Director Kelly Hostetler says they are doing a food drive with the help of Board Member Karin Zona (zone-AH). The food being collected will go to senior citizens and to toddlers in the County.

Hostetler says they have contacted people on social media. If they are able to help, they are asked to put some food out on their porch and then contact the United Way by phone or e-mail. Hostetler and volunteers will then go and pick up the food items.

Hostetler says the food will be brought back to the United Way office where it will be boxed up. If anyone is in need of some food assistance, they can call the United Way at 269-467-9099 or contact them through Facebook. Hostetler says they will then deliver the food and leave it on the porch.

Hostetler says they will be accepting financial contributions to help with the food drive. If you would like to make a donation, again either call the United Way or contact through Facebook. All the money collected will go into the food fund.

The United Way also purchased $4,500 worth of food packs to give to county schools to help feed their students while the schools are closed.
