COVID-19 closing libraries
By: Tim Murray - Wednesday, March 18, 2020

LAGRANGE – The LaGrange County Public Library will close at noon today and remain closed until Monday, April 13th due to the coronavirus emergency.

You’ll find more information on their Facebook page and their website.

The Kendallville Public Library and its Limberlost Branch in Rome City will be open through Thursday, March 19 at 6:00 p.m., then will close beginning Friday, March 20 and remain closed for an undetermined amount of time, with plans to re-evaluate on April 3. At that time, the Kendallville Public Library Board of Trustees will either allow the library to open, choose to remain closed, or opt to offer limited services.

By remaining open through 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, you still get a little time to get into the libraries in Kendallville and Rome City to pick up what you need, and the library staff will continue with the hourly cleaning procedures it has adopted during this high-risk time. They’ve waived limits on all items (up to 100 check outs per card), and will extend due dates to Monday, April 20. If you have items out, due dates will be extended for those, too, and fines will be waived.

The Indiana State Library is now closed to the public. Access to the library’s online services, such as Ask-A-Librarian, INSPIRE and the Digital Collections, will continue to be available without interruption.
