DUNLOP – An Elkhart woman died after being struck by a Jeep Grand Cherokee in Elkhart County last night.

Police say 34-year-old Amelia Vasquez-Palma was walking across US 33 in a non-crossing area with no crossing signal. She was wearing dark clothing and was struck by the Jeep heading southeast on US 33.

53-year-old Susan Baer of Elkhart was driving and submitted to drug and alcohol testing which was negative.

Vasquez-Palma was taken to Elkhart General Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

The crash happened at 10:20 p-m near County Road 13.
