Sturgis Publlic Schools deal with closure
By: Mike Stiles - Saturday, March 14, 2020

STURGIS – Sturgis Public Schools sent out a letter to all parents in the District, outlining what will be happening and a tentative timeline on when some events and activities will start again.

Sturgis Superintendent Dr. Art Ebert says this was not an easy process, and he is thankful for the community's patience as school officials were able to get their procedures in place on Friday. He says there were several factors to look at in this decision.

One of the big priorities according to Ebert was to make sure students were being fed during this break. Meal stations will be open during the closures weekdays at Congress, Eastwood, Wall and Wenzel Elementary Schools starting Monday. Breakfast will be served from 9 until 10 AM and lunch from 12 until 1 PM.

Ebert says they will treat this closure like they treat snow days and not assign additional homework or assessments. Having said that, Ebert is encouraging students to take this opportunity to read books and take advantage of online learning. The District's technology department will periodically e-mail out these online resources to families during the closure.
