ALBION – Prosecutors in Noble County added a second charge against a Ligonier man in a fatal crash involving a car and a bicycle.
Online court records show 25-year-old Faron Yoder faces a new count of causing death when operating a vehicle with a schedule 1 or 2 controlled substance in the blood.
The level 4 felony was added earlier this month to the original level 5 felony count of operating while intoxicated causing death.
A change of plea hearing is scheduled for April 13th.
The crash happened May 14th of 2019 around 9:35 p-m. Prosecutors allege Yoder was driving on the LaGrange-Noble County line road when his vehicle struck a bicycle ridden by 23-year-old Richard Miller of Topeka. Miller died at the scene.
Yoder’s vehicle continued on a short distance before striking a utility pole head on. He was unresponsive and taken to Parkview Lagrange Hospital but suffered no apparent injuries.
