STURGIS – Wenzel School will be getting some work done to building and grounds in the summer of 2020.
During Monday's meeting, the Sturgis Board of Education got an update on the timeline for the projects, which includes relocating the office to the center of the building by the entrance, and updating the playground.
School District Director Of Finance Ray Sterling started with the office project and what needs to be done before construction starts.
Sterling says drawing and specs will be done by February 14. Documents will be available to contractors on February 17. The bid opening will be March 4 at 2 PM and interviews with vendors will be from March 9 through the 13. A recommendation will be brought to the Board of Education March 16.
The projected start date on the office relocation is June 8.
Sterling also shared the proposed timeline for getting information before construction starts on the Wenzel playground. Documents will be available to contractors on March 2. The bid opening will be March 30 at 2 PM. Vendor interviews will be April 13 through April 17. The Board will be asked to approved the proposed vendor April 20 with work to start on June 8.
Sterling says the time frame for the Wenzel playground is similar to the one that was followed for the Congress playground in 2019.
