By: Tim Murray - Monday, January 20, 2020

FORT WAYNE – Fort Wayne International Airport marked its tenth consecutive year of passenger growth in 2019.

A total of 791,800 passengers flew in or out of the airport last year.

Looking ahead to 2020, the Terminal Expansion Project will begin. The first phases of this project will focus mainly behind-the-scenes, with the creation of a Consolidated Baggage Inspection System, which will create a more efficient workflow for TSA employees and an expansion of an additional gate to the concourse.

Much of the project will be in the design phase in 2020, with construction expected to break ground in early 2021.

Another large project that will be underway in 2020 is a $13.4 million Terminal Apron Improvement Project. This project will see the the area of the airport where aircraft are parked reconstructed to accommodate future terminal expansion.
