COLDWATER -- A woman died Tuesday in a fire at a home in Branch County on Lake George.
The fire happened at a home on West Shore Drive. Lakeland firefighters say the building was fully engulfed in flames when they arrived, which made it impossible to go inside. A neighbor tried to get the woman out but was forced back by smoke and flames.
Michigan State Police say the woman in her 70s was killed in the fire and is believed to be the homeowner.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
