Constantine man injured in crash with semi

CONSTANTINE TOWNSHIP – One person was injured in a car-semi collision in Constantine Township.

The St. Joseph County Sheriff's Department was called to Business Route U.S. 131 and Zerbe Road just after 1 PM Tuesday on a report of a two vehicle crash.

The driver of the passenger car, 58 year old William Clewell of Constantine, was trapped in his vehicle. After being removed by rescue personnel, he was taken by Life Care Ambulance to Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo to be treated for his injuries.

The semi driver, 58 year old Carl Manley of Cedar Lake, Indiana, was not injured.

Both men were wearing their safety belts and airbags in the vehicles did deploy.

Assisting deputies were the Constantine Police and Fire Departments, the Michigan State Police, and the Fabius-Park Fire Department.
