LAGRANGE – LaGrange Town Marshal Rich Snyder handed out awards to four people during Monday’s town board meeting.

Citizen Justin Thompson was honored for his actions November 3rd during a robbery at the Marathon Station in Lagrange.

"As he's driving through 9 and 20 there's this man standing in the roadway yelling and screaming, and when he drives by just gives him this dead stare. And when he drove by he felt there must be something wrong. He turned around. Most citizens would have just kept on driving. He went back there to check and see what's going on and realized this subject walked into Marathon was robbing the attendant. He got the attendant out and actually secured the doors and kept that subject from getting out and called 9-1-1. We wanted to make sure he got an award for that."

Snyder also presented awards to three of his officers, Andrew Schwartz, Chris Smith, and Tyler Smoker.

Snyder said his department continues to emphasize drug seizures as a means of reducing crime. He said seizures in Lagrange far exceed towns of similar size.
