Republicans reject Dems proposal to increase teacher pay

INDIANAPOLIS – In a party line vote the House Ways and Means Committee rejected a Democratic proposal to spend more on teacher salaries.
Apparently all of the $291 million dollars in question will go to pay cash for higher education building projects.
State Schools Superintendent Jennifer McCormick had argued at least $150 million should go to teachers. She claimed anything less is an attempt to politically pacify.
