No decision on interim superintendent for Constantine yet
By: Mike Stiles - Friday, January 3, 2020

CONSTANTINE – No decision was made on who will be the interim Superintendent for the Constantine School District Thursday night.

During a special meeting, the Constantine Board of Education interviewed two candidates, John Jarpe and Tom Stobey.

Jarpe is a native of Niles and during his career taught in the Detroit Public Schools, then at Niles Brandywine and St. Joseph. He served as the Brandywine Superintendent from 2007 until 2017 before retiring. He recently finished a stint as the interim Superintendent with the Watervliet Schools.

Stobey is a former teacher and later served several years as the Superintendent for the Frankfort School District. He has recently served the Charlevoix School District as their interim Superintendent.

The Board then discussed both candidates and agreed to hold of on naming an interim Superintendent until their meeting on January 6. That would give them more time to check the references of both men.

A member of the audience offered the name of another possible candidate. Board President Terry Burgess said he would contact the person and see if they were interested in interviewing for the interim position.

With Superintendent Steve Wilson's last official day with Constantine being today, under law, the Board needs to appoint a pre-interim Superintendent, until an official interim Superintendent is hired.

By a unanimous vote, the Board approved the appointment of Kristen Frisbie as the pre-interim Superintendent. She serves as the District's Curriculum and Instruction Consultant.
