COLON – It's been a tough Christmas for a Colon family.

The Colon Fire Department was called to a house in the 3200 block of West Palmer Lake Road at 8 PM Tuesday, where they found a house on fire. The family was returning home after a Christmas celebration and saw the house on fire.

The family lost all of their belongings along with five dogs in the blaze. The homeowner, along with his wife and two daughters are staying in Mendon with family members.

A cause for the fire was not determined.

Chanae McCann, a sister to the homeowner, has started a Go Fund Me page, with the hope of raising $6,000. As of this morning, over $3,900 had been given.
