Initial hearing held for man who was shot by KPD officer

ALBION – The man shot by a Kendallville Police officer after he allegedly pointed a gun had an initial hearing in Noble Circuit Court yesterday.

Online court records indicate prosecutors charged 28-year-old Faustino Vasquez III with carrying a handgun without a license, a level 5 felony, and pointing a firearm, a level 6 felony.

Vasquez appeared via video conference from the jail and indicated he would hire his own attorney.

Judge Michael Kramer set bail at $250-thousand and scheduled an omnibus hearing for February 10th.
